Project for Mom

I am making some throw pillows for my mom's couch! I went to the thrift store in town and bought 5 pillows for only $8!!!! It was a great buy :)

After bringing the pillows home they immediately went into the washer with bleach and hot water. I recommend this for any pillow or fabric you purchase used.

After pulling the pillows from the dryer I started to get a little excited about this project. I'd like to mention that I haven't seen Mom's couch in person. I've only seen two pictures and had to make my fabric choices based on the pictures on my phone.....I'm sure some of you have an idea how that can be.

I made two pillows like the one above, and two like the one to right. For the fifth I'm not exactly sure what to do with it. It's a smaller pillow and rectangular in shape. I'm thinking about incorporating all three fabrics into one pillow some how. Maybe a ruffle pillow? Either way..........I'll keep you posted :)

Pictures of My Recent Projects

This is one of two throw pillows that I covered. I wanted to add some color to my living room. A change in the fabric can add lots of decorative options to a room.

My shower curtain that I made. It was a first for me to make a button hole. I looked up some "how to" videos on YouTube for help. My sewing machine had all the right parts, and I just had to keep practicing with each hole.

I also made a matching window curtain. I still need to finish this project. I would like to find a pole and hang it just 10" from the top to allow some sun light into the room.

The dog bed.

I started with a plain $2 pillow from Walmart, I measured my fabric so that I could make a removable cover. This is for my little dog, and we like to wash her bedding regularly. This way I can simply take the cover off and easily stuff the pillow right in once it's cleaned.

Feeling Creative

Lately I've been doing some sewing! Pinterest has been a great help in providing inspirational websites. I recommend this sight to everyone I know with a computer. I'll have to post some pictures of my products soon!
